Today’s spotlight is on Commercial Fuel Solutions. Director Robin Futcher has been a longstanding Trademarkroom client and was kind enough to reflect for us.

Please tell us about your business and the background on how it all started!

Commercial Fuel Solutions Ltd are specialists in the design, development, manufacture and distribution of fuel storage and transfer systems. Providing a range of professional solutions to suit all areas of industry. Our systems are recognised for durability, performance and reliability.

We are particularly recognised for our innovations in technology which embrace both the reduction of harmful emissions and those which help protect the environment.

Our body of work includes authoring technical guidance which promotes awareness and improves working practices throughout the industry at an international level.

In addition to our fuelling solutions and guidance contributions, we are also recognised as the UK’s leading Independent AdBlue supplier. Our product is used by approximately 1 in 50 of all the HGV’s on the UK’s roads.

Why did you feel filing your brand as a registered trade mark was important enough to make it a priority? 

We wanted to protect our brand and provide intrinsic value to our product/s.

Did you have any goals when it came to trade mark protection?

Possible future opportunities to sub-license a brand that we have built which represents quality.

What did you learn during the application process?

The challenges of applying trademarks to descriptive terms, also the different classes of trademarks.

How did the Trademarkroom help you with the process?

They were brilliant, they offered concise advice which was without jargon and made it easy to understand the entire process.

Do you have any advice for fellow business owners when it comes to trade marks?

Certainly, we would recommend that you protect your brand as it is an asset. You wouldn’t want another company emulating your brand, especially one who performs a poor service or provides inferior products which could otherwise influence perception of your offer.
